1835     Copper forge set up by Johannes Ehregott Christoph
1857     Expansion of business to include boiler-making and engineering operations
1862     Copper forge transformed into an engineering works
1863 ff. Construction of steam engines and bridges
1887     Launching of barrack-/timbered-house construction firm by Christoph & Unmack
1892     The two companies – J. E. Christoph und Christoph & Unmack – continued to exist alongside each other
              for quite a number of years
1898     Engineering works registered as a joint stock corporation
1899     Barrack-/timbered-house construction firm becomes a joint stock corporation
1917     Production launched in the engineering facility specialising in freight cars, postal vans, passenger carriages
              and tramcars
1922     The two factories – engineering works and barrack/timbered-house construction enterprise merge to form
              one company: “Christoph & Unmack AG”
1948     Transformation into a state-owned enterprise trading under the name “Wagon, Timber and Steel
              Construction, Union of State-owned Enterprises Sachsenholz – Niesky O/L“
1950     Production launch on standard wagons, special-purpose goods wagons, rail tankers and bogies
1953     Change of name from VEB LOWA Waggonbau Niesky to VEB Waggonbau Niesky
1955     First overseas orders received e.g. from Egyptian and Syrian state railways
1970     Initial production orders executed outside the Socialist economic area
1978     Continuation of operations in Rail Vehicle Construction Combine
1990     New company name – Waggonbau Niesky GmbH – within Deutscher Waggonbau AG Corporation (DWA)
1996     Privatisation of DWA under DWA Holding by Advent International (Boston)
1998     DWA taken over by Bombardier Inc. (Montreal)
2001     Goods-wagon production centre within Bombardier Transportation
2005     Formation of independent entity as WBN Waggonbau Niesky GmbH
2008     Taken over by German Railways (Deutsche Bahn AG) as a wholly-owned subsidiary of
              DB Fahrzeuginstandhaltung (Rolling Stock Maintenance) as part of DB Mobility Logistics and operating
              under the corporate style DB Waggonbau Niesky GmbH
2014     Taken over by Quantum Capital Partners AG, Munich as WBN Waggonbau Niesky GmbH
2019     Operation takeover of the WBN by ELH Waggonbau Niesky GmbH
